Gerald Francis Malburg passed away peacefully at the age of 70 on July 27, 2024. Born on March 10, 1954, in Mount Clemens, Michigan to his loving parents Wilfred and Gladys Malburg (NEE Gutowski), Gerald was surrounded by a large family of 9 siblings.
From a young age, Gerald developed a passion for the outdoors learning the value of hard work at his family's sod farm, Wilfred Malburg Sod Farm. This early love for farming shaped his career path, leading him to become a dedicated cemetery groundskeeper for the Mount Elliot Cemetery Association. Additionally, he relished in his own farm in Capac, tending to the land with care and enthusiasm.
Outside of work, Gerald found joy in woodworking, listening to his beloved country music, and sharing meals with his family. His compassionate nature and strong work ethic endeared him to all who knew him, leaving a lasting impact on his community. Beloved father of Ryan Vandeberghe-Malburg; loving brother of Ronald (Ann), Thomas (EJ), Kenneth (Amy), Elaine, Clifford, Terry (Luanne), Randy (Carol), and Renee (Jeff). He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews, family, and friends.
Gerald is preceded in passing by his parents and loving sister Kathleen.
Visitation to take place on Wednesday, July 31 at Lee-Ellena Funeral Home (46530 Romeo Plank Road, Macomb, MI 48044) from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a funeral service at 7PM at the funeral home. Burial to take place at Capac Cemetery ( located on Capac Road, in Capac Road in the Village of Capac in-between Donald and Kohen Road) at on August 1, at 11:00 AM.
