Andrew Craig Meyer, 54, passed away on August 29, 2025, in Raleigh, North Carolina. Born on July 6, 1971, in Vermont, Andy lived a life marked by curiosity, creativity, and deep devotion to those he loved.

Andy served as Director of Global Standards for GS1 US, where his work reflected his keen intellect and commitment to excellence. His professional accomplishments were matched only by his personal passions and the warmth he brought to every interaction.

A man of many talents and interests, Andy was an artist whose works adorn the walls of his family's home. Whether through drawing or other media, he expressed himself with a quiet brilliance that touched those around him. Music was another of Andy's great loves that fueled his desire to teach himself how to play guitar, drums, and keyboard. He also had a gift for language and delighted in learning German and Japanese. His inquisitive nature led him to explore new hobbies regularly-each one approached with the same dedication and joy that defined so much of his life.

Andy shared many of these passions with his beloved wife Jenn. Together they co-hosted a podcast that reflected their shared curiosity and connection. Their partnership was one of deep mutual respect and love-a bond that extended into every corner of their lives.

He was a devoted father to his daughter Sabine, with whom he shared countless moments of laughter, learning, and love. His role as a husband and father was central to who he was; his family was the heart of his world.

Andy also found joy in photography, capturing moments both grand and intimate through his lens. He loved traveling and embraced each new place as an opportunity to learn more about the world-and himself. At home, he cherished being a dog dad to two rambunctious canines who brought him endless amusement.

Those who knew Andy remember him as a loving, gentle soul with an open heart and an insatiable curiosity. He had the rare ability to talk to anyone about anything-always listening deeply and responding thoughtfully. His kindness left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.

Andy is survived by his wife Jenn; daughter Sabine; mother Judith; father James; brothers Jeff, Paul (wife Judy), Timothy (wife Vanessa); sister Christina (husband Kerry); nieces Lexi, Amelia, Vivian; nephew Siler; and many others whose lives were brightened by knowing him.

His family will carry forward his memory with love and intention-ensuring that the light he brought into their lives continues to shine. May Andrew Meyer's memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

It was such a gift to know Andy and to work with him. A man of many talents, passionate about them all. I admired Andy in so many way, from his curiosity to his ability to teach others to the way he encouraged those around him and lifted them up.

For the past two plus years, I had the honor of working with Andy on a multitude of projects-RFID everything, Healthcare, and serialized strawberries. The best parts of my time working with Andy wasn't discussing standards, RFID or healthcare though. It was learning about all the different passions that made Andy who he was. He delighted in dissecting the most random of topics and I delighted in hearing about them. I knew that a post-meeting call with Andy wouldn't be a five minute thing. What started at 5-minutes, quickly turned into 20, and then 30, and sometimes an hour+. It was amazing. What a mind. What a heart. What a human. We are all so much better having known you.

I have so much gratitude for all he gave to our organization and the legacy he leaves behind is insurmountable. My heart grieves to not have his dry wit, his humor, and his wisdom around. And I send my deepest condolences to his wonderful family, whom he spoke of often.

You will be missed more than words can describe, Andy.

I am so sorry to hear I must say "Goodbye" to a dear friend. His passing leaves a vacant place in my heart. However, I will always have fond memories of him to fill the emotional void I feel at this time.

My condolences to Andy's family

During my time at GS1 US, Andy was more than a mentor-he was like a brother to me. I'll always cherish the moments we spent together, both at work and with our families. His kindness, support, and friendship meant the world to me.

Beyond being a true expert in his field, Andy was someone you could always count on. We accomplished so much side by side, but what I'll treasure most are the laughs, conversations, and memories we shared.

I had hoped to visit him later this year since we were both in North Carolina, but instead, I carry with me this deep sadness.

Rest in peace, brother. You'll always be in my heart, and I'll miss you dearly.

Andy was (and still is) one of a kind...one out of 5 billion, and more. He always had knowledge and insight on EVERYTHING, and it was so admirable. To have known someone like him has been a blessing. The photo I attached is something that he would say we both made, yet he shines through this. I doodled (inspired by him) a sticky note, and he turned it into a complete work of art. He included where I currently live and where I came from with such beautiful detail. I will hold on to this original piece as timeless art. I can't begin to say how missed he is. My heart and prayers go to his family and friends. "Learn, embrace your fails. With grace, reflect with your peers. Grow stronger with time."

Condolence Message to Andy´s Family
In Loving Memory of Andy

I wish to extend my deepest condolences to Andy´s family and loved ones. I feel truly fortunate to have had the opportunity to work alongside Andy and to get to know him not only as a colleague, but as a friend. Our time together was marked by engaging conversations about family and topics of shared interest-moments I will always cherish.

Andy and I collaborated on both theoretical and practical aspects of our work, and those experiences were enriched by his thoughtful insights and open-minded approach. What I appreciated most was our ability to share honest, transparent thoughts and beliefs, always free of judgment. His willingness to listen and his genuine nature made every interaction meaningful.

Andy´s warmth, integrity, and wisdom left a lasting impression on me, and I will miss him greatly. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy during this difficult time.
