Andrew Claire Newman, 76, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away on September 27, 2025. He was born on June 14, 1949, in Flint, Michigan, to Ned Eugene and Barbara Jean (Ballard) Newman.
Andrew proudly served his country as a Specialist in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he built his career as a salesman with the Typewriter Exchange, a family business founded by his grandfather, Claire Ballard.
He had a love for the open road and the water, spending much of his time riding his motorcycle and enjoying water sports. Those who knew Andrew will always remember his straightforward outlook on life and his familiar saying: "You do what you want and smile."
Andrew is survived by his son, John Andrew Newman, and his wife Ashley of Townsend, Delaware; four grandsons, Lukas, Landon, Cash, and Greyson; his sister, Kathy Keener of New Port Richey, Florida; his brother, David Newman of Baraga, Michigan; and his sister-in-law, Lana Newman of Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kirk Newman of Kalamazoo, Michigan; his parents; and his step-father, Glen Trop.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, on October 9th, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.
