Andrew D. Raynes Jr., 90, resident of Barker Mill, formerly of Worcester MA. passed away Wednesday April 30,2025. He was born November 10,1934 in Bath ME. son of the late Andrew and Dorothy (Potter) Raynes.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Lois (Welsh) Raynes, two sons Peter and wife Suzanne and Gordon, sister-in-law Anne Hopke and her husband William of Canyon Country CA., brother-in-law Donald Welsh and wife Nancy of Venice FL., many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Paul and two sisters, Ruth Raynes and Phyllis Frye.
Family was most important to Andy and he cherished each and every one. He had a variety of interests: history, politics, sports, especially horse racing, jazz and Big Band music, writing short stories, and old western movies.
He started working at WCOU, Lewiston and WGUY, Bangor before moving to CT. where he began his sales career as an award winning Fuller Brush Manager. An HVAC sales job transferred him to Worcester MA. He retired from Red Star Express and relocated to Maine, his home state. In retirement he enjoyed exercising, especially walking on the beach.
Andy's family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Clover Health Care and Thompson -3 at CMMC for the compassionate care he received.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time at the convenience of the family.

Lois, Peter & Gordon,

Thinking of you all at this time of sadness. I was very lucky to have Andy as a cousin; he always made me laugh. He and my Dad grew up together and I am sure had many laughs together. He was a wonderful person.

Love,
Nancy Potter-Desjardins
