Andrew Reid Obituary
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ret. Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Reid, who went to be with our Heavenly Father on February 28th, 2025, at the age of 54. He was an incredible brother, uncle, veteran, and most of all, father.
Born on December 28, 1970, in Indianapolis, IN to Catherine Wiesbrock and William Reid, he completed their family as the youngest of five. Growing up in Frankfort Square, IL, he quickly became the tag along to his older and much cooler siblings. From a young age, Andy was musically and athletically inclined. He played the Saxophone with style and was a member of the Varsity football team. After graduating from Lincoln Way High School in 1989, he went on to become a Salukis at Southern Illinois University.
At SIU Andy joined Air Force ROTC and worked hard slinging pies at Paglia Pizza where he met Elizabeth Branstetter, the mother of his four girls. In 1993, Beth and Andy were married and started their lives together. He graduated in 1996, with a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management. After graduation Andy followed in his older brother JR's footsteps, joining the United States Air Force, he served with unwavering commitment and pride for 25 years. After an extremely decorated career, Andrew retired from United States Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel on November 1st, 2018.
Andy is remembered not only for his commitment to his country but also as "Dad". His dedication and care for his family was noticed by many and felt deeply by his loved ones. Andy was considered a stranger to no one and would always meet you with a genuine and heart felt smile.
Andy is survived by his four daughters, McKenzie McGranor (Bean), Courtney Martin (Courty), Claire Reid (Bear), and Abigail Reid (Boobah). His first grandchild Mia Faye Martin and his former wife Elizabeth Lawson, with special mention to George Lawson, step-dad. His siblings Scott Reid, Lynne Reid Aleman, John (JR) Reid and Matt Reid. There are many spouses, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who have contributed to the rich tapestry of this family, bringing love, joy, and cherished memories. We are grateful for the incredible bond we share with each of them, and for the countless others who are part of our extended family, making it truly remarkable.
A service to celebrate and remember Andy's life will be held on March 28th, 2025 at The Greens at North Hills. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, at 11:00 AM a memorial service. He will be laid to rest at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 PM with a private interment limited to all family and service members.
