It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sandy Stone. He passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025 at the age of 81 surrounded by family and friends. Born on December 28th, 1943 in Springfield, Mass., he was the second of four children of Peter Lewis Stone and Eliza Disston Stone.

Sandy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, as well as a devoted friend. He was a lifelong reader and enjoyed listening to music and birds, travel, skiing, tennis, cooking and being in nature. He was a man of substance known for his deep love of family, his kind and generous spirit, his love of the Boston Celtics and Patriots and his dog Muffin. He had a deep understanding of human psychology and organizational development.

He was a member and lay minister of the Follen Unitarian Universalist church, which was his spiritual home. In the Follen community he was valued for his great emotional and intellectual depth, his calm presence, and his enormous compassion and selfless devotion to others. His Follen men's group was a critical weekly support to him.

He was employed as an organizational consultant at Digital Equipment Corporation for 20 years, where he met his loving soulmate, Marlene. Their many years together were filled with enduring love, curiosity, adventure and mutual support. Although a quiet man, he had a notable dry sense of humor. He was always happiest connecting with his family, and having in depth conversations with friends. He was trained as an executive coach, and loved nothing more than being a great listener and a great help to others. His greatest happiness was other people's happiness.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marlene Stone, his daughters, Sarah Stone Ginand and Marisa Stone Wojcuilewicz, his son, Peter Bowditch Stone, his grandchildren, Jack Ginand, Will Ginand, Tanner Wojcuilewicz, Kelly Hartz, and Kortney Hartz. He is preceded in death by his brother, David Stone, and his sister, Margaretta Hausman. His younger brother, Douglas Stone, also survives him.

A memorial service is planned for October 18, 2025 at 12:00 PM.
