Andrew Louis Syor Jr., 77, of Westminster, MD, passed away suddenly on November 21, 2025, at his home. Born on February 29, 1948, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Andrew Louis Syor Sr. and Myrtie (Bolen) Syor.
A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, “Junior” served his country with distinction during the Vietnam War. His experiences during that time shaped the man he would become and remained central to his identity throughout his life. He believed in living simply, with intention. “Junior” was a devoted and loving grandfather, delighting in the company of his 4 grandsons, and had a gentle way with children and animals. He will be remembered for his kindness, quiet strength, and sharp wit.
He is survived by daughters, Lisa Kakoullis of Orange County, CA, and Laura Morello-Syor of Toronto, Canada; sister, Judy Streib of Westminster, MD; brother, Glen Syor of Baltimore; former spouse, Jo Ann Morello of Toronto, Canada; and 4 grandsons, Dean, Sawyer, Luca, and Brody. Andrew was predeceased by brother, David Syor.
A memorial service in honor of Andrew will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home, P.A., 91 Willis Street, Westminster, MD 21157. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery in Owings Mills will be private at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Andrew’s name to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516, or MilSpeak Foundation, www.milspeakfoundation.org.
