Andrew Gernard Walter was born in Houston, Texas, on September 14, 1964, to Mr. Robert Walter and Mrs. Dorthy Harden.
Andrew graduated in 1983 from M.B. Smiley High School in North Houston, where he not only shone in academics but also left his mark in sports, particularly football and tennis. His early achievements in these areas laid the foundation for his later successes. His strong work ethic, evident from a young age, led him to start driving trucks at the age of 20, eventually culminating in the establishment of his own trucking company, Stepping Stone Trucking. He later worked for other companies, traveling 48 states and two counties, before retiring after a successful 35-year career in trucking.
He was a strong man of family and faith. He was raised in the church, from youth choir to ushering. He worked hard on his faith walk while under various leadership. Soon after, he became a deacon and assistant pastor at New Hope Family Worship Center after a year of dedication to the church. In 2004, he decided to walk into his calling as a Pastor & Founded God's House of Worship & Praise in 2005 alongside his devoted wife, Dedria Walter. Andrew knew the calling of his life. He knew he was here to spread the love and word of God. He did just that. He started outreach ministries in and outside the Church, such as Eagle Eye Youth Ministry & Covenant Marriage Ministry. He even took his love for sport and God and combined them. He founded God's House Panthers in 2009, allowing him to reach people outside the church and change many lives.
Andrew was preceded in death by his mother, Dorthy Harden, his father, Robert Walter, Jr., and his older brother, Tony Walter.
Andrew's legacy is a testament to the love and companionship he shared with his beloved wife, Dedria Corina Walter, over 33 years. His devotion to family is evident in his five children, Andrew Jr., Terry (Markia), Adrian, Andrea, and Ashely, and his seven grandchildren, Aidyan, Autumn, Andrew III, Ari, Terri, Mekhi, and Malachi. His impact extends to his eight siblings, Lisa, Robert, Gregory, Yvette, April, Ali, Joshua, and Caleb, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, who all carry a piece of his memory with them.
