Andrew Gustave Weimann ObituaryAndrew Gustave Weimann II (81) was raised to his ancestors on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was born, June 2, 1943 in Torrington, CT, the oldest son of Andrew Gustave Weimann Sr. and Gloria (Kauffman) Weimann.
Andy attended public school in Torrington, graduating from Oliver Wolcott Technical Vocational School. During his working career he worked in the Needle Division of the Torrington Company and later was employed at Waring Products in New Hartford advancing to the position of Mechanical Supervisor. After a period of self-employment, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a Rural Carrier, retiring in May, 2007.
His first marriage to Mary Jane Petrovits produced two sons, John and Richard. He married Susan C. Pouliot in 1987, moving to Harwinton.
Andy's interest in Masonry began with his initiation into Ionic Chapter, Order of DeMolay. He was a 55+ year member of Seneca Lodge No. 55 AF&AM serving as Worshipful Master in 1976, 1990, 1991, 2006 and 2007. He joined Cyrus Chapter No. 45 RAM, Buel Council No. 20, R&SM, Washington Commandery No. 1 KT and several other Masonic organizations. He had the honor of serving as Grand High Priest of the State of CT RAM in 1999, Most Puissant Grand Master R&SM of CT in 2008 and District Deputy CT AF & AM in 2011.
Andy had a life-long interest in collecting Plymouth automobile literature and memorabilia. He was the proud owner of a restored 1971 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible. Andy is the former Editor, President and Director of the Plymouth Owners Club, as well as Founder/Director of the Plymouth Barracuda/Cuda Owners Club; Past President and Life Member of the Litchfield Hills Historical Automobile Club; and a member of Antique Automobile Club of America. He was also a member of the Connecticut Antique Machinery Association. He also served as treasurer of Schiller Lodge #25, Order of Hermann's Sons for many years.
His other interests include serving for 40+ years with the Harwinton Westside Fire Department where he has held the positions of Secretary, Chaplain, Lieutenant, Commissioner and Director. He served as a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician for New Hartford Ambulance from 1983 through 1998.
Besides his wife, Andrew is survived by his son, Richard (Harold Jeffries) and his brother, James A. Weimann (Cindy) all residing in South Carolina, daughter-in-law, Dee Weimann and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife and his son, John Weimann.
Calling hours will be held at the Thurston Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road in Litchfield on Friday evening, Oct. 25 from 5 to 9 p.m. A Masonic Funeral Service will be conducted at 8 p.m. followed by a Hermann's Sons service. A brief calling hour from 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct 26, will be followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service with burial at Hillside Cemetery afterwards.
