Andrew D. "Andy" Wirick

A Mass of Christian Burial for Andrew "Andy" Wirick, 32, of Newark, will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 22, 2024, with Fr. PeterClaver Kasasa Kiviiri as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Andy, a 2012 graduate of Newark High School, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 16, 2024. He was born in Newark, Ohio on October 2, 1992, to Christine (Howell) Wirick and the late Reginald Dennis "Denny" Wirick.
Andy was a steam train enthusiast, a love that grew from his many visits to the Age of Steam Roundhouse with his late father. He enjoyed cars and looked forward to the Mopar races each year. Andy was a lover of music, especially fond of the 60's and 70's eras. He had collected many t-shirts and memorabilia from the numerous concerts he had attended over the years. He was also a big fan Legos and Winnie the Pooh.
He will be greatly missed by his mother, Christine; sister, Sara Ann (David) Wolfe; paternal grandmother, Helen (Laca) Wirick; uncle, Robert "Guss" Wirick; and his many devoted caregivers who made it possible for Andy to stay in his home.
In addition to his father, Andy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Mary Howell; and paternal grandfather, Reginald D. Wirick.
Friends and family may call at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, 4-7 P.M., Thursday, November 21, 2024, with a Vigil Service held at 6:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Andy's name be made to the Jerry and Laura Jacobson Foundation benefiting the Age of Steam Roundhouse, PO Box 427, Sugarcreek, OH 44681.
