Andy Gilbert LAMAR, SC - Andrew Gerald "Andy" Gilbert, 63, of Lamar, formerly of Hartsville passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2013. Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at 4:30 PM in the Lamar Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday October 1, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Lamar Chapel of Kistler Hardee Funeral Home. Mr. Gilbert was born in Darlington County. He was the son of Mrs. Margaret Usher Gilbert and the late Andrew J. Gilbert. Andy graduated from Hartsville High School and Erskin College. He worked as an accountant for Fluor Corp and Shaw Utilities. Andy enjoyed watching NASCAR, playing golf and was an AVID Gamecock fan. He attended Lamar First Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his family. Surviving in addition to his mother of Hartsville; are his loving wife, Gayle Tolson Gilbert of Lamar; his children, Pam Steen and husband, Todd of Greenville; and Tara Amerson of Lamar; his grandchildren, Trey Andrews of Lamar; Raegan Andrews of Greenville; Brayson Bish; and Paxton Bish both of Lamar; one brother; and five sisters. Andy's family would like to thank Hospice of South Carolina and the staff at Morrell Nursing Center for the wonderful care given to Andy during his illness.
