Glinda Gilbert Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home on Jan. 25, 2026.
Glinda Lou Munn Gilbert-known and loved as Mom, Sister, Aunt Sister, Gran Gran, and Gigi-went home to be with the Lord after a life marked by faith, service, and steadfast love. She was born on December 16, 1937, and entered eternal rest on January 25, 2026.
She was first and foremost a Christian whose beautifully unwavering, trusting, child-like faith in Christ quietly shaped every single day and every part of her life. The last things she did on this side of heaven say everything about the woman she was. Just like every night, she prepared pills, coffee, and breakfast for the next morning, read her Bible, and prayed-serving her husband one more time even after she was gone. Her life was a living testimony to quiet faithfulness.
She diligently served in several occupations throughout her life, including many years in the automobile industry. However, her longest-lasting and most deeply satisfying role was that of wife and mother. She was a faithful wife who loved her husband more than anyone else on earth, and watching her care for him was a lesson in how to put someone ahead of yourself, reflecting the words of Scripture: "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves." (Philippians 2)
A twin sister, a loving daughter, and a tireless worker in every role God gave her-employee, homemaker, daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend-she lived with humility and devotion. She was exceptionally organized, unfailingly dependable, and known for finishing every to-do list she made.
She spent her life in Texas, then Florida, then Texas again. She faithfully served and made lifelong friends as a member of both Indian River City Methodist Church in Florida, and more recently, her beloved congregation at Swan Wood Springs Methodist Church.
She was a devoted reader, a gifted cook and baker known for her delicious treats, and a fiercely competitive domino player. She loved the Texas Longhorns, but mostly wanted them to win because it made her husband happy, and she took great delight in the happiness of those she loved.
She was a prayer warrior, and her family never doubted that they were covered-daily and continually-by her faith-filled prayers. She never wanted to call attention to herself, which sets her apart as someone very, very special.
Family was always her priority and each name she answered to represented a relationship she cherished deeply. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Dorothy Munn, and by her much adored twin sister, Linda Munn Boyd. She is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, Arthur Earl Gilbert, whom she loved faithfully and selflessly; her son, Michael Gilbert of White Oak (Dana); and her daughter, Karen Riendeau of Titusville, Florida (Richard).
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Christyne Gilbert; her nephew, Mark Gilbert (Lisa); her niece, Anne Wainwright; and her grandchildren: Brian Gilbert (Nicole), Michelle Stockton (Mike), Lisa Durham (Josiah), Joanna McDonald (Brendon), and David Riendeau (Makena)-each one a source of great joy and pride to her.
Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Colton Gilbert, Isla Durham, Jude Durham, Grant Gilbert, Clara Durham, Miles McDonald, Arthur Riendeau, and Austin McDonald, whom she loved dearly.
Glinda Munn Gilbert spent her 88 years blessing the lives of everyone around her. She lived humbly, loved deeply, served faithfully, and finished well.
