Wanda Campbell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home on Mar. 6, 2026.
Juawiece Campbell, affectionately known as "Mammam," went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the age of 89, with her family by her side. Born November 29, 1936, in Van, Texas, Juawiece was the daughter of Gaston Stephenson and Grace Crump. She grew up in Van and graduated from Van High School before attending two years of college in Tyler, Texas. She later worked at General Electric, where she met her husband, Jim Campbell. The two were married on June 24, 1960. Juawiece and Jim spent the majority of their lives in Tyler, where they raised their family. Upon retirement, they moved to Lindale and enjoyed life on "The Farm" before later moving to Mineola in 2008. Some of Juawiece's hobbies included quilting, sewing, gardening and playing hand-and-foot. She became a member of the Mineola Quilting Guild and created many treasured pieces for family and friends. Juawiece wore many titles in life that she took great pride in: wife, mother, grandmother, and, one of her proudest, great-grandmother; as well as dear friend, mentor, and "adopted mother" to many. She loved them deeply and was a constant source of comfort and support. Juawiece will be remembered by family and friends as a selfless and compassionate woman who always put the needs of others before her own. She had a unique way of making people feel understood and cared for, often focusing conversations on others rather than herself. She also loved sending thoughtful cards to family and friends, offering words of encouragement that meant so much to those who received them. She treated everyone she met with respect and kindness, regardless of their walk in life, and many considered her a mother figure. She was also known for her blunt honesty, wit, and sassy sense of humor, which brought laughter and joy to those around her. Above all else, Juawiece was a woman of God, always steadfast and unashamed of her faith. Recently, a 100-year-old friend shared that Juawiece's daily prayers over her meals in the dining room made such a strong impression that she often hoped to find an open seat at Juawiece's table.

She is survived by her daughters, Terri Zurowski (Jim Zurowski) and Beth Chandler (Greg Chandler); her son, Curtis Campbell; her grandchildren, Kelby Campbell, Callie Mathis (Blake Mathis), Caitie Jennings (Ryan Jennings), and Cooper Campbell; and her great-granddaughter, Brooklynn Mathis. Also survived by sister-in-laws Mary Stephenson and Evelyn Stephenson, brother-in-law Bobby Campbell and multiple nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim Campbell; her parents, Gaston and Grace Stephenson; and her brothers, Gaston Stephenson and Jimmy Stephenson.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2026, at the Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home Chapel in Lindale, Texas with Pastor Ozzy McDaniel officiating. Interment will follow at Sand Springs Cemetery in Mineola, Texas. Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to East Texas Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
