On September 21, 2024, Andrew 'Andy' Watkins of Fate, Texas, departed this life. Andy was born to Virgil and Jane (Murdoch) Watkins in Oak Cliff, Texas and was raised by his dear mother and grandmother, Clara Murdoch in Lochwood. They traveled to many amazing places, showing Andy the world. Andy graduated from Dallas's Bryan Adams High School in 1971. He loved racing and fixing cars with his friends.
He later obtained a marketing degree from the University of North Texas. Following graduation, Andy joined The Dallas Times Herald newspaper's advertising department, remaining there until its closure. He loved being a part of his communities and especially loved White Rock Lake, leading the restoration of the Big Thicket in 2005.
He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family and watching baseball and football, especially the Rangers and the Chiefs. Seeing the Rangers win the World Series was a moment he was so proud to see.
Andy's legacy lives on through his wife and high school sweetheart, Beverly Gill Watkins; children, Robert Watkins (Gina) and Clare Walters (Greg); stepchildren, Jenna Simmons (Craig) and Daniel Barnes (Candace); grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Adrian Walters, Joseph Watkins, Charlie Simmons, Alison Simmons, and Lucas Barnes; as well as his cherished pets, Chloe, Quincy, and Penny.
At Andy's request there will not be a service but an Irish Wake at a later date.
