Angel Mercado has gone to be with the Lord on May 17, 2025, at the age of 81.
Angel was born on April 4, 1944, to Mercedes Quingley and Angel Mercado, Sr., in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Angel formerly lived in Brooklyn, New York, where he married Carmen Julia Colon on December 25, 1964. He worked for American Airlines and really enjoyed building model airplanes and ships. He was a huge military history buff and enjoyed fishing and babysitting his grandkids. Angel enjoyed visiting Tate Springs Baptist Church, as his faith was very important to him.
Angel’s namesake is carried on by his two grandchildren, Angela Nicole Barajas and Thomas Robert Mercado McCarty, III.
Angel is welcomed into Heaven by his parents, Angel Mercado, Sr. and Mercedes Quingley, along with Hector Martinez, Carmen Martinez, William Mercado, and Delia Mercado.
Those left to cherish Angel’s memory are his wife of almost 61 years, Carmen Julia Colon; his daughters, Nancy Alexi Quingley, Evelyn and Tom McCarty, Jr.; his sister, Mary Mercado; his brothers, Aben Mercado, Enrique Mercado, Rene Mercado, Luis Mercado, Daniel Mercado, Miguel Mercado, and Gilbert Mercado; his grandchildren, Angela Barajas, Taylor Cook, Kayla and Jordan Kellner, Thomas and Mckenzie McCarty, Abbey Barajas, Kelsey and Bo Witcher; his great-grandchildren, Luke Kellner, Amelia Kellner, and Callie McCarty, as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
