Angela "Jill" Dente

Angela "Jill" Dente passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on March 27, 2026. Born in North Arlington to the late Andrew and Sophie Petruzzi, she grew into a woman whose warmth, kindness, and devotion to her family became her defining qualities.

After graduating high school, Jill pursued her passion for beauty and style, attending beauty school and becoming a hairdresser. That was how she met the love of her life, Guy. Though their love story took a few years to begin, once they reconnected, they never looked back-spending more than 60 years together, building a life filled with laughter, love, and happiness.

Jill and Guy married in 1961 and settled in Clark, where they raised three children: Theresa, Debbie, and Guy. Later in life, Jill and Guy retired to Neptune where they spent over 20 years and made many new and happy family memories. Jill also worked at Lord & Taylor for more than 25 years where she was, in her families opinion, their #1 sales associate and her "friends and family" all benefited from her generosity and wonderful gifts she brought home.

Jill was a loving and devoted wife and mother, always putting her family first. Her greatest joy came from being "Mammy" to her seven grandchildren, all of whom absolutely adored her and will carry her loving spirit in their hearts forever.

Jill's generosity and warmth extended beyond her immediate family. She was the consummate host, welcoming friends and loved ones into her home with open arms, delicious food, and laughter. One of her many little phrases that we coined as "Mammy-isms" was "Treat your company like family, and family like company". Her home was always filled with the scent of her wonderful cooking and the sound of joy. She was the "Queen of Christmas," making every holiday feel magical and special for everyone around her.

Jill gave so much of herself in everything she did. Her legacy is the love she shared, the comfort she brought, and the memories she created for all who were lucky enough to know her and have her in their lives.

Jill is predeceased by her beloved husband Guy and her cherished daughter Theresa. She is survived by her daughter Debbie and husband Jake of Forked River, her son Guy and wife Debbie of Point Pleasant and her son-in-law Dennis Nugent of Millstone. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Gregory, Marissa and her husband Taylor, Erica, Derek, Zack and his fiancée Kayla, Tara and Kelly.

She will be sorely missed but will live on in the stories, traditions and love that she leaves behind.

Visitation will be held at Riggs Funeral Home, 130 North Route 9 in Forked River on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 11:30 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Saint Rosa Lima Cemetery in Freehold, NJ.
