Angela was born on April 25, 1962, in Springville Utah to Shirley Smith and Boyd Halverson. Arriving prematurely at just under a pound and only eight inches long, she was cared for in a makeshift shoebox incubator, a testimony to her strength from the very beginning.
Angela's early life took her to Washington State and Germany, where she lived with her mother and stepfather, Gordan Jensen. Eventually, the family settled in Cody, Wyoming, where Angela graduated high school and became a devoted mother to her children.
In 1989, she moved with her two children to Ogden, Utah, a place she would call home for the rest of her life. A licensed beautician by trade, Angela later found a fulfilling career with Weber County, where she worked until her retirement in 2021. She loved collaborating with the people she met while planning county events and issuing permits, and she quickly became friends with nearly everyone she met.
Angela was known for her authenticity and straightforwardness; people always knew where they stood with her.
Angela was an avid skier and golfer, though her golfing was often lighthearted (some days, she could throw the club farther than she could hit the ball). She loved sunbathing and spending time at the beach, and on hot days, she could often be found by the pool with her grandchildren, making memories over popsicles and laughter. A talented cook, Angela delighted her family with favorites like her renowned potato salad and often spoiled her grandkids with steak and shrimp dinners. Despite claiming she wasn't an animal person, animals adored Angela-and secretly, she loved them just as much.
Angela was preceded in death by her husband, John Hager; her sister, Colette Day; her mother, Shirley Smith; and her grandmother, Ruby Warren. She is survived by her children, Kory (Amee) Martin and Krystal Foster; her grandchildren, Colton, Abby, and Konnor Martin; Harley (Chris) Foster-Jacobson, and Tre (Lexie) Singleton; step-granddaughter Darcie (Derron) Williams; great-grandchildren Sofia, Leona, Izaik, and Isabelle; her father Boyd Halverson, her stepfather, Gordan Jensen; and her stepbrother, Clark Jensen, and two half sisters Amy and Lisa.
Angela's adventurous spirit, love of travel, and warm, social nature drew people to her throughout her life. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
Angela is now joyfully reunited with her sister Colette, her mother Shirley, and her grandmother Ruby, likely sharing laughter and heartfelt toasts. Heaven just became a bit brighter and a lot more fun.
A celebration of Angela's life will be held on November 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Leavitt's Mortuary in Ogden.
