Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jones Funeral Home - Jacksonville on Jun. 12, 2025.
JACKSONVILLE- On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, Myrtle Angeline Lanier Edwards went home to be with her Lord and Savior and was joyfully reunited with her beloved husband of 63 years, Donald F. Edwards, Sr., who preceded her in death on July 13, 2018.
Angeline was born on February 2, 1937, to the late David Leonard and Virginia Grace Lanier. She was raised in the Chinquapin community of Duplin County and was a proud graduate of Chinquapin High School. On September 24, 1954, she married the love of her life, Donald F. Edwards, Sr., and together they raised a loving family, spending 30 years in the Catherine Lake community outside of Richlands before settling in Rock Creek of Jacksonville.
Angeline is survived by her four devoted sons, lovingly known as "her boys": Donald F. Edwards, Jr. (Susan), Jerry David Edwards (Karen), John Michael Edwards (Barbara), and Charles Ronald Edwards (Karla). She was a cherished grandmother to six grandchildren: Jill Edwards Ata (Joe), Stephanie Edwards Hobbs (Matt), Meghan Edwards Bowyer (John), Kyle Edwards Steadings (Andrew), Jonathan Hollis Edwards (Nicole), and Caroline Stuart Edwards, and a proud great-grandmother to ten great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her siblings: sisters Polly Young, Bonnie Jones, and Tammy Lanier, and brother Scottie Lanier. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Dorian Lanier.
A woman of deep faith, Angeline's life was anchored in her relationship with God and her commitment to her Bethlehem Baptist Church family. She served joyfully for over forty years in the church choir and was active in ministry to senior adults and in the church library. Her passion for music, faith, and service was evident in every part of her life.
Angeline found great joy in the outdoors, especially in her yard and flower gardens. She loved cooking for her family and friends and was famous for her fried chicken, cheese biscuits, creamed corn, and desserts. She was a faithful and enthusiastic supporter at countless ball games, always the loudest cheerleader in the stands for her sons and grandchildren.
Alongside her husband, she helped run the family business, Edwards Printing for over forty years and poured her energy and care into both her home and her community.
A celebration of Angeline's life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church on Gum Branch Road in Jacksonville, with Senior Pastor Damon Williamson and Reverend Bill Gay officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service.
Angeline's legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in all who knew and loved her.
