Angeline Pence Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

Angeline Agnes Pence of Milwaukee, formerly of Crandon, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2025, at the age of 92.

Born in Chicago to the late Martin and Agnes (Banda) Zemen, Angeline moved with her family to Crandon at the age of 9. She graduated from Crandon High School in 1951 and later moved to Milwaukee, where she married the love of her life, Glenn Pence, on April 27, 1957. Glenn preceded her in death in 1994.

Angie was a true trailblazer taking on challenges like receiving a degree from MSOE, as described in this recent article https://www.msoe.edu/about-msoe/news/details/angie-pence/. In her words, she "just wanted to compete."

With 42 years of tenure, Angie excelled through the ranks at General Motors from calibrating sights for B-52 bombers to working on the U.S. Space Program to joining the competitive action team (CAT) developing the catalytic converter for autos. She even had the unique honor of meeting and shaking hands with President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy when they visited.

She was a faithful member of Our Father's Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. Her life was a testament to God's goodness. She showed us how to walk with kindness, how to persevere with strength, and how to love without condition.

Proud of her Slovak heritage, Angeline traveled extensively including visiting her ancestral home in Slovakia. Her zest for life, love of travel and social skills were clear.

Above all, Angeline cherished time with her family. She loved returning to Crandon to share family adventures, like water skiing, and passed down a legacy of joy, resilience, and tradition.

Angeline is survived by her sons, Gale (Jennifer) Pence and Ronald (Susan) Pence; her beloved grandchildren, Brad, Evan, and Natalie; and her brother, Martin Zemen Jr.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Lawrence (Dorothy) Zemen and William Zemen, and her sister-in-law Barbara Zemen.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. at Weber-Hill & Packard Funeral Home in Crandon. Funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m., officiated by Reverend Jamie Bauknecht. Angeline will be laid to rest beside her husband and near her parents and extended family at Crandon Lakeside Cemetery.

A memorial service, celebrating her life, will occur at Our Father's Lutheran Church in Greenfield, WI https://www.ofls.org on Saturday, September 13, 2025. Family greeting and welcome will start at 10:30 a.m. Service to begin at 11 a.m.
