Johnny Vance Mullins

Johnny Vance Mullins passed away unexpectedly at his home on August 13, 2025. Johnny left behind so many friends and family with a broken heart, the only thing that brought peace to those broken hearts was the thought that Johnny was finally reunited with Joellyn, Joey and Jaker (Jake).

Johnny was born to Zach and Verba Mullins on March 21, 1957. Zack and Verba raised a large family down Mullins Lane in a little farmhouse with a few cows and horses. Johnny was number 10 of 11 children.

Johnny married the love of his wife Joellyn Purdy of Crandon on August 30th, 1975, when they were just 18 years old. Joellyn and Johnny raised four children together in a house they built together down Mullins Lane. Johnny did anything he could to provide for his family. He worked many years at the Crandon School District where he started as Custodial Staff and worked his way up to Director of Custodial and Maintenance. Johnny also worked a lot of long hot hours at the Crandon International Raceway getting everything ready for race weekend. Once it was time for the green flag to drop Johnny would be found in a white suite at the top of the flag stand waiting to wave the checkered flag.

Johnny is survived by his children Jeff (Britney) and Jodi (Bryan); grandchildren Sophia, Sydnee and Eastyn; his siblings, Mary Jane Mullins, Caroline (Mark) Seils, Marty (Ginger) Mullins, Bill (Judy) Mullins, Larry (Faye) Mullins, Jerry Mullins, Rick (Sue) Mullins, and Danny (Kerrie) Mullins; mother-in-law, Loretta "Squirt" Kalata; brother-in-law, Steve; sister-in-law, Dawn along with many nieces, nephews and many close friends Johnny thought of as family.

Johnny is proceeded in death by his beloved wife Joellyn, sons Jaker and Joey; siblings, Joanne (Bill) Checker, and Donna (Sam) Bundy and his parents.

Johnny will always be remembered for the way he cherished his family, his mischievous grin that meant he was likely up to no good, and his laugh that would fill any room with happiness.

Visitation will be held at Praise Chapel Community Church in Crandon on August 21, 2025, from 9:30 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:00 pm. Mr. Micah Dewing will preside over services. Johnny will be laid to rest at the Town of Argonne Cemetery.
