Westerly, R.I. - Angell Roseanne Chambers, 80, of Westerly, R.I. passed away surrounded by the love of family Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025. She was the loving wife of Terry L. Chambers. Born Margaret Roseanne King in Huntington, W. Va., March 5, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Dwight Lyman Moody and Margaret Mildred (Moss) King.
She had her name changed later in life to Angell with two L's because throughout her life people always called her a little angel and she added the extra L to be unique. She had a very analytical mind that was always looking to ensure things were done correctly and looked for innovations to improve processes. She applied this mindset in her working years where she worked as a pharmacy clerk, propellant plant worker/truckdriver, nuclear power plant worker, licensed massage therapist and finally an electrical system designer at Electric Boat in Groton where she met her husband.
She was a very loving person with an expressive personality. She was an avid organic gardener and landscape designer, loved the outdoors, cats and dogs, butterflies and ladybugs. She liked to travel to see new places and try new experiences that she shared with her husband.
Prior to meeting her husband in 1995, she had a very diverse and interesting life. She was brought up in Indianhead, Md., to parents that had her later in life, her brothers where 13 and 9 years older than her. Her father was at the end of his military career as a Navy corpsman and retired a few years after she was born. She was schooled at the nearest catholic school and always had great regard for the nuns that taught her, despite her probing questions about God and the Catholic faith. During her childhood she was called Peggy and loved ballet dancing and roller skating. She also had some very unique experiences, that included at the age of ten flying to New York with her mother to be on a game show called The Name is the Same, where she met George Gobel, Peggy King the singer and Mike Wallace who was a panelist on the show.
She married early in her life before she finished high school and started married life as a homemaker and mother to her daughter Renee. She eventually went back to school and received her GED certificate and studied at various schools to improve her knowledge so that she could support herself as a single parent. She always was looking forward and never backward living life to the fullest, ending her working career and marrying her loving husband the last 30 years of her life.
Besides her loving husband Terry, she leaves her grandson Douglas A. Jarman of Mechanicsville, Md.; stepsons, Stuart L. Chambers of Santa Rosa, Calif. and Jonathan P. Chambers of Westerly, R.I.; and five step-grandchildren, Rachael, Hannah, William, Katie and Andrew. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Jack and Thomas King; and her daughter Katherine Renee Jarman.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Angell's name to Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, 15 Highland View Rd, Cumberland RI 02864.
A celebration of life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
