Angelo Calandra, 91, of Southington, CT, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of Maria (Leanza) Calandra for 63 years. 

Angelo was born in Italy on September 16, 1932 to the late Vincenzo and Maria (Mercone) Calandra. He moved from Italy to the United States in 1972 to raise his family and worked at Superior Electric, retiring after 21 years of service. 

Angelo enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, fishing and hunting. He was a proud wine maker and a passionate soccer fan, especially when rooting for his favorite team, Napoli. He also loved to cook, play the lotto and FaceTime. Angelo adored his children and grandchildren and instilled the importance of love and family loyalty to them all. His presence will be deeply missed at every gathering, especially on holidays and at Sunday dinners. 

In addition to his wife Maria, he is survived by 2 children, son, Vincenzo Calandra and wife Holly of Southington and daughter, Maria Ryan and husband Thomas of Plantsville, 5 grandchildren, Kristen Ryan and fiancée Christopher Delgado, David Ryan and wife Erica, Angelo Calandra, Victoria Calandra and Jonah Calandra and 3 cherished great-granddaughters, Hannah, Ava and Sophia. He is also survived by 3 sisters, Maria Rossi of West Haven, Gina Norelli and husband Giuseppe of Italy and Emma Angelino and husband Giuseppe of East Haven and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Angelo was predeceased by an infant son, Giuseppe Calandra and brother-in-law, Luigi Rossi. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at the Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Summer St. Plantsville. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held before the service from 9 - 10:30 a.m. at the Plantsville Funeral Home, 975 S. Main St, Plantsville.
