Ben S. Calandra

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Ben S. Calandra, a man celebrated for his unconditional love and zest for life, on Thursday, October 30, 2025. Born on December 24, 1977, in Warren, Michigan, Ben spent his life touching countless hearts with his kindness and infectious spirit.
A dedicated Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, Ben's professional life was marked by his compassion and commitment to enriching the lives of those he cared for. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Wayne State University and his Master's Degree from Oakland University. Beyond his occupation, Ben found joy in spending time with his loved ones, weight lifting, and Cross Fit. Ben also cherished the art of tattoos and was a movie enthusiast.
Ben was the beloved husband of Jaime (née Maples) Calandra and a devoted father to Lyla, Emmy, Jake, and Gabby, all of whom were the light of his life. He was the cherished son of Susan Templin and the late Ben Calandra. A dear brother to Joelle Moriarty, Todd (Ginger) Moriarty, David (Dee) Moriarty, and Lori (Sean) Hardy, and brother-in-law to Scott (Kathleen) Maples and Erin Maples-Smith. Ben was also a loving son-in-law to Chris (Kathy) Maples and the late Sindy Maples. Proudly, he was the uncle to Nickolas, Jonathan, Anthony, Matthew, Mary, Samantha, Madison, Olivia, Jake, Baileigh, Addie, Drew, Parker and great uncle to Payton.
Ben's generous spirit and the joy he brought to every encounter left a lasting impact on everyone he met. His infectious happiness and his "shining star" personality made him beloved by all.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Ben at a memorial visitation on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 p.m. at the Wasik Funeral Home - Gendernalik Chapel located at 35259 23 Mile Road in New Baltimore, MI.
Ben's memory will forever be cherished by his extended family and numerous friends, all of whom find solace in recalling his kind ways and the unconditional love he had for everyone. As we grieve our loss, we celebrate the remarkable life Ben led and the cherished memories he leaves behind.
