It is with deep sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Angelo "Suspect" Gutierrez-Corriz, beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Born on August 29, 1990, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Angelo left this world peacefully, embracing a legacy that will forever resonate in the lives he touched.
Angelo’s life was defined by his unwavering love for his family, who were always his top priority. With a heart full of commitment, he ensured his sons—Jaidenn, Angelo, Johnny, Daniel, and Manuel—were not only taken care of but were nurtured in an environment of love and joy. His Granddaughter Laylani brought him immense joy; he was very proud to become a new grandfather and loved her with all his heart. His wife, Krystle Garcia-Gutierrez, stood by his side as they shared countless memories filled with laughter and warmth. Angelo’s profound pride in being a father and grandfather was evident to all; his children were his proudest accomplishment, a testimony to the love he poured into their lives.
He was a man of many talents and passions. A hardworking construction worker, Angelo dedicated himself to various projects throughout his career, leaving behind a lasting impact in his community. His athletic spirit shone brightly; he was not just a die-hard basketball fan but also an exceptional player. Angelo’s love for the game began at Victory Faith Church in Espanola, where he first won a basketball tournament that catapulted him into a world of competition and camaraderie. Friends and fellow players often lingered after games simply to watch him play, captivated by his skill and passion.
Angelo was known for his outgoing personality, always the jokester and a source of humor in any gathering. People were naturally drawn to him, not only for his athletic prowess but also for his kind heart and radiant spirit. His charm extended beyond friendships; even children found comfort in his friendly demeanor, forging bonds that solidified his legacy as a loving and nurturing figure in their lives.
In addition to basketball, Angelo was an excellent fisherman who cherished long days spent by the water. Adventures and family outings were central to his being, and he loved to engage with his brothers, creating memories that would last a lifetime. His vibrant attitude and ability to make everyone around him smile made him a cherished friend to many.
Angelo is survived by his loving wife, Krystle, their devoted children, Jaidenn, Angelo, Johnny, Daniel, and Manuel, his adored granddaughter, Laylani, his godsons Anthony and Ricky, and his two dogs that were like children to him Precious and Apollo. He is also remembered by his parents, Pat and Gloria Corriz, along with his siblings, Patrick, Joanna, Issac, Anthony, Ruben, and Ricky, whose bonds of love will remain unbroken.
Angelo's spirit now joins those of his deceased relatives, including his beloved grandmothers, Socorro Gutierrez and Beatrice Corriz; his uncles, Ray Gutierrez, Raul Gutierrez, Gilbert Corriz and George Corriz; his aunt, Hope Gutierrez; and his cousins, Gerald Villareal, Ivan Archuleta, Justin Archuleta, Stephanie Corriz, and Denise Corriz.
As we grieve the loss of a cherished soul, we also celebrate the indelible mark he made in our lives. Angelo "Suspect" Gutierrez-Corriz will forever be remembered for his boundless love, joyful spirit, and the laughter he gifted us all. Rest in peace, dear Angelo; your legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved you dearly.
