Anibal "John" Lopez, 76, of Florida, formerly of New Jersey, died on September 22, 2024, in Davie, Florida. Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico and came to New York as an infant and raised in the Bronx. He also lived in Old Bridge, NJ and Manalapan, NJ before moving to Davie, Florida in 2002. Mr. Lopez was a Project Manager for various major corporations here and in Florida. He also was a Professor of Computer Science teaching at NYU and Rutgers. Mr. Lopez proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was discharged in 1972. He was an avid food lover and critic but was a true family man who loved family meals and music. He was predeceased by his father Vicente Lopez and his brother Harry Lopez.
Surviving is his wife of 56 years Maria "Merce" Lopez; three children, Mark Lopez and his wife Wendy, Melissa Starkey and Vanessa Lacy and her husband Dale; also, his mother Luisa Lopez, and his 4 siblings, Nilda, Vicente, Gladys, and Delia; also, his six grandchildren, Devin Lopez, Jason Lopez, Gavin Starkey, Ashlyn Starkey, Elliana Lacy and Adalyn Lacy.
Visiting hours will be offered for family and friends on Sunday, Sept. 29th, from 2pm to 6pm at the Mastapeter Memorial Home, 270 Atlantic City Blvd., Bayville. Entombment will follow on Monday, gathering at the funeral home by noon and leaving at 12:30pm to Ocean County Memorial Park, 280 Wells Mills Rd, Waretown, NJ 08758.
