Anita Ayers Obituary
Mrs. Anita Cherrine May Ayers, 74, of South Bend, Indiana passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2024. She was born in Danville, Illinois on September 23, 1949, the first born of the late Willie May and the late Corrine May-Webb.
Anita graduated from Danville High School in 1968. She moved to South Bend in 1974 where she met and married John Thornton Ayers; he passed away in 1981. She was a former employee of Wheelabrator Technologies. In 1987 she went to work as a data entry operator at the former Teachers Credit Union (today known as Everwise Credit Union); she happily retired in 2011.
Anita loved the Lord and enjoyed listening to gospel music and playing board games with family and friends at her Trinity home. She had a big, beautiful smile that was a clear indication of her compassion and thoughtfulness. She was always offering words of encouragement and reminding others to look to God. She spent time ministering to others and volunteering.
Those left to cherish her memory include one sister and brother-in-law, Mildred (China) Miller of South Bend; two brothers Calvin (Madge) Webb of Danville, IL, and Kurt (Tammy) Webb of South Bend, beloved cousins and friends, Beverly Monroe and G. Leroy Thompson along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by three brothers, Henry Webb, Jr., Eugene Webb, and Tony Webb.
Anita's kind words and deeds will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
