Anita Lynn Barclay was born on November 26, 1962 in Houston, Texas, to William Howard Dunn and Carolyn Ann Davis. She grew up with her younger brother and three sisters in Bremond, Texas. At a young age she was always outside in the country working around her parents and grandparents farms. She used to tell stories of picking peanuts and milking cows. At the age of 16 she started working on her aunt and uncle's shrimp boat and did that for several summers (which is how she ended up starting and raising her family in Clute). She graduated from Bremond High School in 1981. As an adult, she worked at a company that made medical equipment and while she was in research and development, she had a patent on balloon catheters used in heart procedures. Her biggest joy was family and she made all who knew her feel like family. She raised her own two children, along with many more.
She was diagnosed with Addison's disease in 1995 and had to quit working, so she started babysitting to pass the time and make a little extra money. During this time, she became Nonnie to everyone who loved her. Even her kids called her Nonnie. She never thought she would live long enough to see her children graduate high school. She not only saw that happen, but she watched her son get married and have babies and helped raise her two granddaughters as well. She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, and crochet, which she was teaching her grandchildren to do. She passed peacefully surrounded by many who loved her after three decades of pain and illness. She took this fight and showed her family what courage and strength truly is. She is whole and healed now; this is what brings her family peace during this time.
She was preceded in death by her father Howard Dunn, brother Heath Dunn, her aunt (who was like another mother to her) Ann Nettles, her grandparents, and numerous aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her daughter Kristy Barclay, son Justin Barclay and wife Brittany, Brittany's whole family (she was very close to her in laws), granddaughters Kinsley and Paisley Barclay, sisters Audra Coker and husband Dustin, Amanda Pellerin and husband Brian, and Angie Viator and husband Chad, and special bonus son, Russell Scherdin. She also leaves behind her nieces Kayla Green (Addyson and Tayton), Haylie Viator (Caden), Kylie Viator, Heather Jones (Trinity, Connor, Kerrigan), Jessica Dunn (Trae), Jennifer Dunn (Kaysen, BrinLee), and nephew Colton Henson (Wrenley), and numerous other family and friends. If we named all who loved her, the list would never end.
Her pallbearers are Justin Barclay, Russell Scherdin, Chad Viator, Dustin Coker, Colton Henson, and Josh Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Tayton Stidam, Trae Roberts, Connor Jones, and Kaysen Luna.
Her visitation is Thursday, August 21 from 10-11 am and funeral service following at 11 am at Stroud Funeral Home in Clute, Texas. There will be a gravesite service on Friday, August 22 at 1 pm at Walnut Creek Cemetery in Bremond, Texas.
