Anita Joyce Cooper, born on May 23, 1947, in Salina, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, in Pryor, Oklahoma. Anita dedicated much of her professional life to serving as an office administrator at Cherokee Nation, a role that reflected her commitment to her community.
Anita's passions extended beyond her career. Known for her exceptional cooking and baking, particularly during the holidays, she enjoyed gifting her baked goodies to family and friends. Anita found joy in bringing people together and having family gatherings. Her interests and hobbies also included yard work, visiting casinos, shopping and she had a fondness for a variety of purses and shoes.
Anita took immense pride in her family, which included her son Jeffery Cooper and wife Brittany of Claremore, Ok, her daughter Stephanie Crisp and husband Jared of Pryor, Ok, as well as her brother Larry Russell and wife Sharon of Salina, Ok, and her sister Brenda Dale of Pryor, Ok. She was a beloved grandmother to five grandchildren: Makaya, Anna, Kelsey, Korben, and Callaway, whom she cherished dearly. Her proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly her children and grandchildren, and she relished the opportunity to watch them participate in their various sports and activities.
Anita was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jefferson Cooper.
The visitation will be held at Shipman's Funeral & Cremation Service in Pryor, Oklahoma, on December 1, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A graveside service will take place the following day, December 2, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at the Ross Mayes Cemetery in Salina, Oklahoma. Korben Fortna, Callaway Cooper, Gus Collins, Si Collins, Collin Cramer, Taylor Callison, Ben Ward, and Jacob Couch will serve as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers include Josh Sorum, Matt Taylor, and Chase Summerlin.
Anita Joyce Cooper will be remembered for her warmth, her love of life, and her profound impact on those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit will continue to resonate within the hearts of her family and friends.
