Anita Louise McKnight Cummins

Anita Louise McKnight Cummins age 88, of Bentonia, Mississippi and formerly of Choctaw County, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at her home in Bentonia, Mississippi on Friday, May 16, 2025. Anita was born on September 24, 1936, in Cleveland, Mississippi to Earl McKnight and Clara Sorey McKnight. She was a homemaker and member of Ogden Baptist Church in Bentonia, Mississippi and a former member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Mathiston, Mississippi. Anita enjoyed reading and was an avid gardner loving all types of flowers including blue hydrangeas. Mrs. Cummins is survived by her daughter; Marcia (Ricky) Hilderbrand, Bentonia, Mississippi, one son; James (Karen) Cummins, Madison, Mississippi, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; James Ellis Owen "Ellis O." Cummins, both her parents; Earl and Clara Sorey McKnight, two sisters; Earline Scruggs and Earnestine Hooper and one brother; Harold McKnight. Funeral Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Anita will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora, Mississippi. Interment will follow at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Mathiston, Mississippi. The Graveside/Committal Services will be held at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel instead of Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends and loved ones for a time of visitation on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 1:00PM until time for services at 2:00PM at Oliver Funeral Home in Eupora, Mississippi. Rev. Ralph Cain will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Cory Burks, Chase Cummins, Will Cummins, Drew Berryhill, Daniel Weaver and T.R. Hilderbrand. Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora is honored to be entrusted with all arrangements for the Cummins family.
