Anita Goodwin Obituary
(Gurr) Goodwin
Anita Diane (Gurr) Goodwin, 58, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2012, at her home.
She was born on June 19, 1954, in Jacksonville, to Lois A. and Edgar E. Gurr. Anita was an avid turtle memorabilia collector and had a live African tortoise named Deborah who lived in her backyard. She loved old movies, especially musicals and the classics of the 30s, 40s, 50s, and all things glamorous of those times. She was a great cook who loved to experiment with new recipes and had an extensive collection of herbs and spices to work with. Anita fought a courageous battle against lung cancer, having a short remission in November of 2011. She always kept a positive outlook that it would be conquered and she would be numbered among the Survivors.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Allen Goodwin; son, Derek; and daughter, Samantha. She is survived also by her brother, Geoffrey Gurr of Fredericksburg; sister, Meg Crosby of Culpeper; three nieces; one nephew; six great-nieces; and three great-nephews. A memorial service was held at the Good Hope Baptist Church in Jacksonville on Sunday, October 14, 2012.
