Services for Anita Rue Lockwood Herrington will be held Thursday, August 14, 2024, 10:00 a.m. at Webb & Stephens Funeral Home-North with Bro. Ron Kitchens officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Nebo Cemetery.

Ms. Herrington, 91, of Collinsville, passed away Friday, August 8th at her residence.

Rue was a current member of Collinsville Methodist Church and a charter member of Antioch Southern Methodist Church. She was also a Worthy Matron in Order of The Eastern Star and former member of the Red Hat Society. After dedicating 33 years to the United States Postal Service, she retired. Post retirement, she served as a sitter for the elderly. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach and the mountains. Rue truly was the matriarch of her family and was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Dan Lockwood Herrington (Dottie), Anita Herrington Pickens (Harold), and Tony Mark Herrington (Kim); grandchildren, Amber Brown (Justin), Jake Herrington (Mallarie), Suni Gutierrez (Gabe), Matthew Herrington, and Jennifer Kinard; ten great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and sister, Lahoma Gray.

She is preceded in death by her son, Howard Mack Herrington Jr.; father of her children, Howard Mack Herrington Sr.; and parents, Homer and Verlia Thames Lockwood.

Pallbearers will include Glenn Herrington, Dalton Brown, Travis Gray, Hunter Gray, Fisher Gray, Derrick Gibson, and Garrett Gibson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice, including nurses and nurse’s aides, for the love, care, and support they showed to Ms. Rue and her family.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2025, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Webb & Stephens Funeral Home-North.
