Anita Delores Moore

Anita Delores Moore, 86, of Robbins, IL, passed away on September 7, 2025, at her residence in Park Forest, IL.

She was born on January 4, 1939, in Chicago, IL, to William Moore and Eleanor (Goodwin) Moore.

Anita attended nursing school at South Suburban College and later worked as a nurse at Ingalls Hospital for many years. She was known not only for caring for her patients but also for lovingly caring for her parents and many others throughout her life.

During her marriage, Anita was blessed with two sons, James Nolan Settles Jr. and Saldon Sabian Settles.

After retirement, she enjoyed reading, listening to country music, taking long walks, and exercising daily. She believed in maintaining both her health and her image. Anita especially cherished family time and loved being surrounded by her loved ones. Family and friends will remember her most for her kindness, strength, and devotion to those she held dear.

She is survived by her son, James Settles Jr. (Michelle); grandchildren Denisha Williams, Shani Champion, Shamori Settles, Jasmine Settles-White, Jessica Settles, Sabiana Settles, James Settles, Saldona Settles, Sabrina Settles, Leah Settles, Emmanuel Settles, Jace Franklin, Raven, Terrence Johnson, and Terri Settles; and great-grandchildren LaMar, Kimahni, Taylor, Jordyn, Tyshaun, Raimone Jr., Jayden, Josiah, David Jr., SaRiyah, Kiran, Leonard, RJ, Nathaniel, Noah, and Sabian. She is also survived by her siblings Betty Bowen, Ruth Johnson, and William Moore Jr., along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. A special acknowledgement to Joanna Franklin Settles, Kireiselin Settles, and Yolanda Settles.

She was preceded in death by her father, William Moore; her mother, Eleanor Moore; and her son, Sabian Settles.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Lain-Sullivan Funeral Home, 50 Westwood Drive, Park Forest, IL, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A repass will follow at Iron Oaks from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m
