Anita M (Schneider) Sohn- Vestal, New York
On August 11th, 2025, Anita M. (Schneider) Sohn of Vestal passed away at the age of 95. Anita was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Harold G. Sohn. She is survived by her four children- Lydia (Neil) Norr, Jensen Beach, Florida; Stephen (Vicki) Sohn, The Colony, Texas; Roger (Connie) Sohn, White House, Tennessee; Sherry (Tim) Cregan, Vestal, New York. Seven grandchildren- Alison Contreras, Amy (DW) Schabbing, Lindsey (Michael) Gibson, Kristin Sohn, Joshua Sohn, Tara (Derek) Beck, Krista (Michael) Stento. Along with nine great grandchildren. Anita is also survived by one sister, two brothers, and several nieces and nephews whom she enjoyed communicating with weekly.
Anita was a long time Vestal resident, residing in her Vestal home for over sixty years. Employed by Vestal Central School District, she worked both in the Accounting Office and the High School Guidance Office. Once retired, she enjoyed traveling across the country with her husband, working in her garden, spending time at the Vestal Senior Center, and joining local knitting clubs. Above all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Anita was a devout member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church (Vestal) and was a proud member
of the Ladies Auxiliary also at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. She enjoyed volunteering at OLS as a baker for funeral services, and helping serve community meals. Over the years she made many friends from both OLS and the Vestal community, she will be greatly missed.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday September 24th at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church 801 Main St. Vestal, NY 13850. Inurnment will follow in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endwell, NY. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until time of Mass at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers or gifts, a charitable donation may be given to The Mercy House of the Southern Tier, 212 N McKinley Ave, Endicott, New York 13760 or to The Danielle House, 160 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, New York, 13905.
