Anita "Marie" Cahoon White went to heaven on June 27th, 2025, to be with the Lord. She was born on June 17th, 1968, in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was raised mostly in Maryland but called Virginia her true home. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her closest family, after a courageous three-year battle with cancer.
• She is survived by her husband, Shawn Edward White, her son, Justin Allen Tothill, stepson, Zakkari William White, daughters Cera Victoria Yacarini and Caitlin Juliana Yacarini, and granddaughter, Audrey Marie Kinnaman. Her parents, Linda B Tsunami (Mom) and Enrique Tsunami, William P Cahoon (Dad) and Judith B Cahoon, 3 brothers, Stephen C Lemons (Lori), W Brett Cahoon, Jeffery H Cahoon, 2 sisters, Pamela L Cabrera (John), and Angela L Tsunami. Nieces, Jessica, Briana, Alexa, Victoria, Nephews, Gabriel, Elijah, Michael (Elizabeth/Levi), Marvin. • She was greeted in heaven by her son, Stacey Andrew Tothill, her grandmothers, Lois Anita Thompson, Evy Julie Cahoon, great grandmother, Violet Marie Baines, grandfathers, Theodore Jerome Butler, and Leslie Hayes Cahoon, aunts, Diane, Jean, Patricia, Joyce, Uncle Glenn, and Cousin Tammy.
• Marie was a faithful servant of God. She always said she had HUGE faith. And that faith got her through life. She survived many hardships, some of her own making and some that were thrusted upon her, but no matter what she went through, she knew that God was with her, carrying her when needed. Her passion was to share her faith with others so that they could learn to trust God the way she did. She couldn't imagine how anyone could survive without God.
• Marie loved her kids and granddaughter more than life. She did her best to be a great mother, even while being a single mom for many years. To raise her kids to be good and kind humans, to be compassionate and loving. She did the best she could with what she knew. And when she knew better, she did better.
• Marie loved her husband deeply and unconditionally. Through the ups and downs that come with all marriages, he was her rock, and she appreciated him more than he knew.
• Marie loved her family though she was terrible at keeping in touch. She was blessed to have a huge family, but that made it hard to keep in close contact with everyone all the time. She had trouble just keeping up with her children. However, she always felt very close to each of her siblings in different ways.
• Marie loved her friends, who she was also terrible at keeping in touch with. There is a theme here. If you got Marie on the phone, you'd be there for hours, which is probably why she put off making phone calls to friends and family. Marie's bestest friends forever, Pam & Gigi, were a huge part of her heart and of who she was. Her greatest wish was to grow old with them and have a lot of laughs and fun.
• If you've read this far, please know that Marie's greatest hope would be that you would know Jesus and trust God the way she did. Please follow one of her churches: Park Valley Church or Elevation Church and she trusts that you will find your way.
***Within the last year, Marie read about a woman who had taken the time to write her own obituary. The story left a lasting impression, and Marie was moved to do the same leaving behind her own words and thoughtful instructions.
Service will be held on July 18, 2025, 11 :00am at Park Valley Church 4500 Waverly Farm Dr, Haymarket, VA 20169.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to her 16-month-old granddaughter Audrey Marie Kinnaman's Invest 529 (college fund).

If you had the pleasure of knowing Marie, even for a short time, you knew she was passionate about the important things in her life. It showed every day in her work life, when she spoke about Shawn and her family whom she loved so much, and her faith that carried her through difficult times.

She is missed greatly. May her family find daily strength to endure their difficult time just as Marie always did.

I did not know Marie personally, but I am a co-worker with Shawn and I know they have struggled for awhile. I just want to tell the Family that I am truly sorry for the loss of someone so special to them all. I pray for peace of mind and some comfort for them. Marie will live on in their hearts and memories forever. Take care.
