Ann Bonavita Obituary

Published by Megaro Memorial Home on Oct. 22, 2016.
Ann M. Bonavita passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the age of 94, surrounded by her family. Ann was born February 23, 1922 in Somerville, PA to Ramundo and Paolina (nee Macri) Murgia (Italian immigrants). Raised in Carbondale, PA she was the third of eight children, a coal miner's daughter. During World War 2, Ann, two of her sisters, and friends boarded a train to Newark in search of work. She found employment in Westinghouse where she met her future husband of 67 years, Peter. Ann was a meticulous homemaker who took pride in her home in Newark's historic Forest Hill. She and her husband Peter raised three daughters. An excellent Italian cook and baker, Ann would make trays of cookies to give to family and friends every Christmas. Proficient in gardening, sewing, crocheting, knitting, lacemaking and the lost art of tatting, she would craft handmade gifts for every holiday and special occasion. Ann, a beautiful and stylish woman, was always active and young at heart. She loved to laugh and would put a smile on your face. She had a kind heart, a great sense of humor and was always the life of the party. Ann's last part-time employment was as a receptionist in her son-law's dental office until the age of 86. Mass will be celebrated 10 am Wednesday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Nutley, NJ. Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ. Arrangements by the Megaro Memorial Home 503 Union Ave Belleville, NJ (megaromemorialhome.com). In lieu of flowers, a donation to your favorite charity in Ann Bonavita's name would be appreciated. Ann is survived by her children Linda Ann, Paula and her husband Gregory S. Corso, DDS, and Donna, sister Teresa Connolly and many nieces and nephews. Ann was pre-deceased by her husband Peter, brothers Joseph, John, Anthony Murgia, sisters Catherine Kingery, Mary Murgia and Regina Reardon.

I was friends with Paula throughout our years at Our Lady of Good Counsel School. I loved Paula's mom, Ann. She was a great cook and ignited my passion for Italian food and pastries. God love you all.

Mom was a beautiful artistic and creative woman with exquisite taste.
She was not above hard work and was proud of her beautiful home that she kept so well.
Mom loved to laugh and make others laugh. All who knew her said she was full of fun. To her husband and daughters she was that and so much more.
We hope she is in her glory being reunited in heaven with the family she loved and missed so dearly.
Happy Thanksgiving Mom. We will miss all your special and delicious treats for the holidays. It won't be the same without you and Dad. We love you!
Toodle-oo!!
