Ann Buckley Obituary
Ann Marie Smith was born on March 24, 1944 in Morris, Minnesota, to parents Clance & Ruth (Hills) Smith. She grew up in Erdahl, Minnesota, and moved to Manvel, North Dakota in 1956. Ann Marie graduated from St. James High School in Grand Forks. She moved to St. Paul, Minnesota, for a while, but moved back to Grand Forks where she's lived ever since. Ann Marie met Thomas Buckley after moving back and they were married in 1968 until Tom's death in 1972. Ann Marie was later married to George Waxvik who passed away in 1986.
Ann Marie was always a very independent person. Over the years, she has held many jobs. She worked in the office at the Grand Forks Herald, had various jobs at the mall, and worked at the university for a while. Ann Marie loved Bingo and playing cards, and she was a regular at the Senior Center engaging in various activities.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Tom Buckley and George Waxvik; and brother, Ben Smith.
Ann Marie is survived by her siblings, Douglas (Joyce) Smith of Centertown, Kentucky, and Ginger Hartse of Arizona City, Arizona; nephew, Tim Smith; niece, Angela Callaway; and grand-nieces & nephews.
VISITATION begins at 12:30pm, with FUNERAL MASS at 1:00pm, on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at St. Anne's Living Center, 524 North 17th Street, Grand Forks, North Dakota.
