Ann Louise Cather Zimmerman passed away peacefully with her family by her side in Waukesha on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at the age of 74. Ann was born in Delafield on October 25, 1950, to parents John and Dorothy (née Kaderabek) Cather. After graduating from Kettle Moraine High School, Ann continued her education in nursing, earning a Diploma in Practical Nursing from Waukesha County Technical Institute.
Ann was a skilled and compassionate nurse. She served as a Licensed Practical Nurse in various settings over her 40+ year career, including many years at Shorehaven and Linden Grove-Waukesha.
Ann took delight in reading and nature, especially bird watching. Over the years, Ann enjoyed many travel experiences, including trips to numerous states in the U.S., Europe, Costa Rica, and the Middle East. Some of her favorite places included Maui and Bailey’s Harbor in Door County, WI.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 40 years, Thomas R. Zimmerman; son Justin (Valerie Doubleday) Longley; stepchildren Lisa (Mark) Fleckenstein and Thomas W. Zimmerman; grandchildren Mara (Wesley) Stasik and Hannah (Evan) Flegel; her beloved great-grandchildren, Violet, Nolan, and Aiden Stasik; and brother David (Candy) Cather. She is further survived by other relatives and loved ones and was a friend of Bill W. for over 20 years. She is preceded in death by her step-daughter-in-law, Lisa M. Zimmerman; brother, Michael Cather; and her parents.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 818 N. East Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Ann’s care team with ProHealth, especially hospice nurse, Dennis, and nurse navigator, Gretchen, for their care and support. Memorials in Ann’s name are appreciated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of the Catholic Community of Waukesha or The Ridges Sanctuary, Bailey’s Harbor.
