Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral HomeKenneth Edward Young Barten, age 62, of Waukesha, passed away with his family by his side on Friday, March 13, 2026. He was born on July 20, 1963, to Charles and Sandra (née Young) Barten. Ken was a Waukesha North High School graduate, where he loved singing in the choir. Kenneth was a proud combat veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps in the early 1980s, including deployments to the Falkland Islands and Beirut, and had a love for motorcycles. He had a passion for science fiction and fantasy movies, which he instilled in his family. He took part in medieval war reenactments and developed an early interest in computers, starting with his first Tandy. He enjoyed playing games such as MechWarrior, Pokemon Go, and, in his younger years, Dungeons & Dragons. Ken loved animals, including his beloved dog, Bellatrix. Ken’s spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
Ken is survived by his daughter, Tyler (Dustin) Barten Schwartz; his three sisters, Kelly (Brian) Trautman, Kristine (Chad) Anderson, and Kimberlee (Anthony) Coronado; and his nieces and nephews: Eric (Teah) Trautman, Heather (Matt) Sedlmeier, Hannah (Adam Axtell) Anderson, Sarah Olson, Zander Coronado, Amelia Anderson, Adrianna Coronado, Andrew Coronado, and Ashlee Coronado; and great-nephews Michael and Marcus Sedlmeier and Isaac and Axel Trautman. He is further survived by many cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents and is reunited with his best friends, Brian Arvoy and Francis Lloyd.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Randle-Dable Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., from 1:00 PM until the memorial service at 2:30 PM. Military honors will follow the memorial service. Interment will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove, WI.
