Ann Caton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Burroughs Funeral Home & Cremation Services on May 9, 2024.
Ann, also know as "Tutie" to many, was raised in the Boston and Cape Cod, MA areas. She moved to Northern Virginia in the mid-fifties where she raised her two sons, Leonard and John. She began her career working as a tour guide for D.C. Transit, on the "Silver Sightseer" trolley line.
She then started a 25 year long career working as a tour guide at the United States Capitol, retiring as Head Guide. She loved sharing her vast knowledge of the Capitol with many tourists from all over the world. She loved her job as a guide especially hobnobbing with some of the country's most powerful politicians. She had a number of good stories to tell!
After her retirement from the Guide Force, she and her husband Bill relocated to Cape Cod, MA. where they lived for eight years. After too many long, cold winters they headed south. They made a lovely home in the Southwood community in Surfside Beach where they had many, many dear friends.
Ann and Bill thoroughly enjoyed the last phase of their lives. Ann was a diehard animal lover and New England Patriots fan. She and Bill rescued a number of dogs that they doted on: Caitlin, Sissy, and finally Daisy. They were truly family members. Not only did she love her dogs, she adored her five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and the step-grandchildren of Bill's daughter, Karen Caton Taylor. Her family also included nieces and nephews in New England.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. SHE WAS TRULY A GREAT LADY!

Ann was a sister-in-law who I will forever remember her gracious dedication to my brother, Bill. She will always be missed as she loved us all. A very thoughtful kind classy lady who enjoyed every person she knew. Ann knew how to cheer us up during difficult times she was a strong lady and her children are an amazing example of her love and devotion. May she rest in peace and comfort. I miss her tremendously however I know she is in heaven with my brother sharing lots of laughter.
