Ann Dixon Obituary

Dixon, Ann C.

August 26, 1941 - December 5, 2022

Ann C. Dixon, 81, of Reidsville, passed away on December 5, 2022, at UNC Rockingham Healthcare in Eden, NC. She was born on August 26, 1941 in Greensboro, NC to the late Claude and Ruby (Brewer) Culbreth. Ann was brought up in the Mill Village community as it was, referring to the area of Cone Mills Denim Plant.

She was a graduate of Page High School. After graduation, she began her career journey consisting of working for Southern Life insurance Company, Cone Federal Credit Union, and eventually retiring from Cone Mills White Oak Plant. After retirement, she worked part time at Moses Cone Hospital.

Ann was an expert at knitting and crocheting. She fulfilled numerous requests for items over the years such as: sweaters, afghans and dishcloths. She also cross-stitched many beautiful pictures and ornaments as gifts for her family. Her favorite pastimes were going to the beach to enjoy the breeze on the balcony and attend local dances, listening to the band Hip Pocket.

In February 1960, Ann united in holy matrimony with Billy Joe Dixon and to this union a son was born.

Along with her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband.

She is survived by her son David Wayne Dixon (Amanda), grandchildren, Zachary Dixon (Laura), Stephanie Dixon Walker (Jonathan), 5 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Macy, Parker, Jace, and Cooper. Special thanks to Ed and Becky Lee, Carol and Ron Smith, Sheryl Pate, David and Karen Styons, Bret and Glenna Reid, and Marty and Jennifer Reiter for including her as a member of their families.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County. Services are entrusted to Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Service, Lambeth Chapel.

Rest In Peace Ann. You will be missed by many friends. I worked with Ann at the hospital and knew her growing up in the mill village. My husband also worked with her at Cone Mills. She was a very sweet lady!

I am so sorry for this loss. Ann was a friend. Her dad worked with my mom at White Oak, Ann followed me at the Credit Union and Claudia and I worked in the same building. Pete is a great friend of my brother, Andy. The Culbreth´s were household names with us all growing up in the same community. I was able to reconnect with Ann on FaceBook and I enjoyed her comments. I know she is glad to be back together with her Billy. She missed him so much.
I am praying for her family at this time.

David, I was really shocked when I saw your mom's obituary. She and I talked typed stayed in contact over FACEBOOK. However our friendship goes way further back to the Credit Union days. Then the CB radio boom and we picked at each other over that. Sorta lost contact for a few years after that until FACEBOOK.
Your mom was a real sweetheart with a personality that could brighten any room that and her joking ability are reasons I loved your mom. All through the years if we saw or talked it was like where we left off our previous conversation.
My thoughts are with you and your family during this time of grief though she would not want anyone to be sad or broken hearted by her passing. The really great thing is I am able to call her my dear sweet friend. GOD bless us all
