Ann M. Drewry (Walsh)
Born March 26, 1937
Passed peacefully on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at the age of 87.
Ann is survived by the big family she always wanted: Robert (Kara) Walsh, Kathleen Walker, Patti Fuchs, Scot Walsh (Danielle Lovell-Walsh), Brenda Walsh, Irene Walsh, and Jeanette Walsh; and her grandchildren, Rachel Walsh, Lauryn Walsh, Elizabeth Johnson-Walsh, Finley McArdle, Shalimar Lake (June Newman), Jade Fuchs (Austin McMinn), Jasmine Fuchs (Vinny Caputo), Natalie Fuchs (Anthony Polito); Aidan Walsh, and Ellis Walsh (Adrienne Kruse); and her great-grandchildren, Aurora Lake, Roman Kruse, and one more on the way; along with her many loving friends including longtime best friend Linda Koehn and her dear family. Ann is predeceased by her parents, Gordon and Marion Drewry, and siblings Douglas Drewry, Roger Drewry, and Nancy Drewry.
Ann spent her entire life in Rochester, NY. She grew up in the neighborhood of Henrietta where she loved the outdoors and athletics. She received her Bachelor's degree in Physical Education from SUNY Brockport. In 1963, she married John J. Walsh and they had seven children together before divorcing in 1976.
Ann was committed to providing for her family and had many jobs over the years, favoring those that gave her the flexibility to support her kids - from a referee in women's sports to a welder, from Helvie Plastics to Lift Line, where she spent over 20 years as a driver, driver trainer, and dispatcher. Retirement held no appeal to Ann, so she returned to the workforce and spent over 21 years at Highland Hospital, where people all over Rochester knew her as the friendly face in the parking booth.
Ann often spoke about her two greatest joys: her garden and her big family. She loved people, treated everyone equally, never gave a weak hug or handshake, made sure everyone felt welcome at her dinner table, fed every stray cat she ever met, and kept those around her laughing until she passed. She was the most generous soul, unless you wanted her ice cream. Her faith in Jesus was the core sustaining her throughout her life, especially giving her great hope and peace in her last days.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to those she shared her faith with and those she worked with over the years. Many were like a second family to her, especially the people in the Highland Hospital community whose warmth and kindness was evident and touching throughout her many years on the job and her final hours in the hospital bed.
Ann's Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on SATURDAY, AUGUST 3 at Pittsford Community Church, 421 Marsh Road, Pittsford, NY 14534 with interment to follow at White Haven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road. The Family will receive friends and family at 32 Hulburt Ave. in Fairport from 2-5 PM.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Ann's memory to Empowering People's Independence (daughter Jeanette's caregivers), or to Lollypop Farm.

I volunteered in the Gift Shop at Highland and became a friend of Ann at lunch time when she came in for one slice of pizza. She was a wonderful, kind woman, who I became a secret santa to with a special gift of fingerless mittens to keep her hands warm in the parking booth. She was such a special lady - I was blessed to know her. She treated everyone with kindness.
