Ann Mercer Feddersen passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, after a long and productive life, at the amazing age of 101. She was a life-long resident of Iowa City.

A memorial for Ann will be held on October 4, 2025 at the Oaknoll Retirement Residence, in the Heiden Community Room from 2-4:00 pm.

Ann was born to Anita and WW Mercer on May 31, 1924, at Seashore Hall, in what was, at the time, UI Hospital. She grew up on Summit Street in Iowa City. In 1941, Ann graduated from City High School in Iowa City. She attended Wellesley and the University of Iowa, graduating with a BA in psychology, in 1945.

After graduation, Ann worked briefly as a psychiatric social worker, at the U of I psych hospital.

Ann Mercer married Dick Feddersen in 1947. They made their home in Iowa City in the Manville Heights area. Ann was a fabulous cook, and homemaker. She loved gathering and entertaining friends and family. Later, in the 1960s, they moved to North Liberty on the Coralville Reservoir.

Ann and Dick loved swimming, boating, and water skiing on the reservoir. They had several boats over the years; each named "Kookaburra".

Because of her devotion to community service, Ann spent her lifetime in the service of others. She volunteered for numerous organizations, including the Visiting Nurse Association, Iowa City Schools, Project Green, and IC Hospice. She donated time to serve on several local boards of directors.

Ann will be remembered for wicked sense of humor. She loved April Fools pranks and practical jokes. Yet in the end, her kindness and fierce support will be remembered by those who knew her.

Ann is survived by Richard M. Feddersen (son), Virginia Feddersen (daughter-in-law), Nancy Feddersen Hyde (daughter) and grandchildren Alex Feddersen, Matthew Feddersen, Cameron Privitt, Kate Privitt, and great grandchild, Blythe Privitt.

Ann was preceded in death by Anita and WW Mercer, her parents, and a brother, WW Mercer.
