Mike Vermace, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in his home, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and community spirit. Born in Iowa City on July 4, 1957, to Louise (Svatos) and Frank Vermace, Mike brought joy to all who knew him. On May 26, 1979, he married Joyce Brinkman-Norton at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA, and together they raised two daughters, Jennifer (Scott) Mattheisen and Johanna (Ryan) Wasileski.

Mike was an avid Hawkeye Football fan, holding season tickets for nearly 30 years. He cherished attending games and hosting tailgates, where he entertained and cooked for friends and family. His warmth extended to everyone, whether they were lifelong acquaintances or new friends. Alongside his wife, Mike successfully ran Vermace Realty in Coralville for over two decades, serving his community with dedication.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Vermace; daughters Jennifer (Scott) Mattheisen of Cushing, Wisconsin, and Johanna (Ryan) Wasileski of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; brothers Rick (Karen) McPherson and Randy (Marti) Vermace, both of Iowa City; brother-in-law Steve (Tammy) Brinkman of Mitchell, South Dakota; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Louise and Frank Vermace, and his parents-in-law, Harvey and Irene Brinkman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mike Vermace Family.

Mike will be deeply missed and forever cherished in our hearts. May he now rest in peace.

A celebration of life, "Hawkeye Style," will be held at a later date.
