Ann Foltz, 78, passed away peacefully with her family Monday evening at GCMC hospital after a short illness.

Ann, or Annie as she was affectionately known to most people, was born and raised in Williamsport, Pennsylvania and has lived in Scranton, Pennsylvania for the past 42 years. She studied to be a medical assistant at the Harrisburg Institute of Medical Arts before starting her family. Had you asked her, raising her two daughters was the most important and fulfilling job she'd ever had. In addition to that, she worked in a few jobs in manufacturing and customer service and retired early.

A breast cancer survivor of fourteen years, Annie had a flair for decorating and could take the most random odds and ends and make them look like absolute art, she loved butterflies, her Vera Bradley bags, Lucille Ball, old westerns, and shoes. She loved to dance and sing. Anyone who knew Annie probably wouldn't remember where she went to school or where she worked. What they would remember is how she lit up a room, her generosity, and made friends wherever she went. Literally, anywhere. They would remember how much she loved to laugh and how easily she brought smiles to the faces of others. They would remember that she was so much more caring and thoughtful than the average person and had a way of always making you feel like you mattered. They would remember her unique style and how she lived out loud. Most of all, she loved her family.

Ann leaves behind two daughters, Tanya Lutz and son-in-law Tim of Scranton, Lisa Gallagher and son-in-law Tim of Arlington Heights, Illinois. Grandchildren Ambrosia Stancik, Megan Stancik, Christopher Lutz and spouse Brooke Lutz. Great-grandchildren Bailey Sudnick and Aubrianna Stancik, and brother Peter Cameron.

Her generous spirit continues beyond her life as Annie's lifelong wish was to be donated to medical science, and she will be studied at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine.

Friends and family may pay their respects Thursday from 3 to 7 at Neil W. Regan Funeral Home, Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. to honor her memory.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition, 2397 Quentin Rd, Lebanon, PA 17042 or pabreastcancer.org.
