Ann Barrett Hatton, born September 21, 1939, in Monroe, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025, in Macon, Georgia. She was the beloved daughter of Henry Horne Barrett and Martha Barbero Barrett. Ann graduated from Mount de Sales Academy in 1957. For many years, she worked as Director at Coliseum Prime Child Care, where she devotedly cared for every child who came through its doors.
It's truly difficult to describe what an amazing woman Ann was. She was a beloved mother, and her love and care extended far beyond her six children, reaching their friends and anyone else that had the privilege of meeting her. She was the heart and soul of her family, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Ann enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved flowers, finding great joy in tending to her beautiful Iris garden. She also loved playing poker, and caring for her dogs, horses, and cats. One of her favorite places to be was the beach, especially in the company of her family and friends. Above all, Ann's greatest treasures were her family and her faith. She cherished every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and she loved them unconditionally. She was a woman of strong faith and a devoted member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church for many years. Her memory will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Martha Barrett; her sister, Susan Grubbs; her grandson, Cody Hemingway; her granddaughter, Melissa Hatton; and her beloved son and best friend, Steven Hatton. She is survived by her children, Cathie (Randy) Cole, Robin (Eldridge) Hemingway, Bobbie (Richard) Higley, Kim (Gary) Powell, and Matt (Candi) Hatton, fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and two nephews. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the wonderful team at Georgia House Calls for their compassionate and dedicated care. A Celebration of her life service will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025, at 12:00 PM with a visitation for family and friends one hour prior to the service at Gray Memorial Chapel & Crematory. A private burial will take place for family only immediately following the service.
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die." John 11:25-26.
