Ann Kanawha Mitchell Lightfoot, 90, born on January 7, 1935, in Tift County, Georgia, peacefully departed this life on January 1, 2026, at NHC HealthCare in Rossville, Georgia. A dedicated registered nurse, she dedicated forty-five years of her career to serving the community at Raburn County Hospital and others embodying compassion and care throughout her professional journey.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 5, 2026 in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Mr. Guy Haynes officiating. Interment will follow at Zion Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:30 on Monday, January 5, 2026 at the funeral home before the service.
Ann was a graduate of Tifton High School and furthered her education at Warren A. Candler Nursing School in Savannah, Georgia. In her role as a nurse, she touched many lives and instilled a sense of comfort in those who needed it most. Beyond her professional achievements, Ann found great joy in her personal pursuits. She cherished the time spent with her family, and her passion for gardening revealed her nurturing spirit, showcasing an impressive green thumb.
Her legacy will endure in the hearts of her family. She is survived by her beloved children, Jack Brantley Lightfoot, Jr., and his wife Rachel of Ringgold, Georgia, and Derek Lamar Lightfoot and his wife Sheila of Bethlehem, Georgia. Ann is also survived by her sister, Melody Schofield of Tiger, Georgia, along with her two brothers, Lenny Mitchell of Dacula, Georgia, and Mark Mitchell of Albany, Georgia.
Ann's life was rich with love and compassion, rooted deeply in her Methodist faith. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Jack B. Lightfoot, Sr., her father, Orman Leonard Mitchell, her mother, Ruby Hazel Bass Mitchell, and her sister, Orma Hazel Lawson.
