Ann Middleton Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 4, 2025.
Retired special collections librarian and genealogist, Ann Middleton, passed away at her home on November 29, 2025 at the age of 79 in the care of her loved ones. She left a legacy of accomplishments and experiences that her family and friends will continue to honor for many years to come.
Born in Monroe, Louisiana, to Carl and Marie Middleton on December 13, 1945, Ann grew up in Rayville in Richland Parish. She had one sister, Mellie. Ann graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a B.A. in English Education and a minor in Library Science. Her career as a librarian began at the St. Mary Parish Library, in Franklin, LA. There, Ann continued her education at LSU in the summers to earn a Master's degree in Library Science.
Marriage and family eventually brought Ann to Metairie, LA where she raised three children. Ann enjoyed being a dedicated full-time mother and active school parent. Once her children were grown, she settled back into her career working at the Historic New Orleans Collection where her love for genealogy and historical research continued to evolve. From there, Ann continued along her path as a genealogy/special collections librarian working for the Jefferson Parish Library System, the Ouachita Parish Library in Monroe, and finally at the Bossier Parish Library's Historical Center in Benton, LA. As Head Librarian for the Historical Center, Ann contributed her time to local historical research and assisted many a beginner genealogist with the patient process of genealogical discovery. Some of Ann's legacy can be found in her weekly columns about Bossier Parish history in the Bossier Press-Tribune, and in "Bossier in Slices," a collection of interesting and charming pieces of information and stories about Bossier Parish's Past, archived on the Stephen F. Austin State University's Regional Heritage Center's website. Ann retired from Bossier Parish Library after 15 years of dedicated service.
Ann loved a very simple pleasure in life – being at home with her pets. She kept a spotless home which cleaning it was a hobby of hers in and of itself. She had often joked that "I dusted my blinds" should be engraved on her tombstone. Ann is survived by her three children: Christine, Tim (Michelle), and Carl (Heather), her niece Ann Marie (Anthony) and many grandchildren.
