Ann Kilgore Newman passed away peacefully due to natural causes on the morning of September 15, 2025. She was born in Coweta County, Georgia, on February 16, 1936, to M.S. and Mable Kilgore; she was the youngest of 3 children. She spent her childhood off Corinth Rd. where her family had a farm and were active members of Oaklawn Baptist Church. She married Ernest Newman of Newnan, Ga, in 1954. They shared 48 years of marriage together before he passed away in 2002. Together they raised six children. Ann lived life to the fullest, also pursuing a career in drafting blueprints. She loved to joke that if you were ever stuck in traffic at Spaghetti Junction, don't blame her. She only drew the plans; she didn't design it! Ann was also known as a local artist, painting murals in multiple churches in the area. Her artwork could also be seen in the old Coweta General Hospital. Later in life she taught elementary school at Newnan Christian school, sharing her love of learning, art, and Jesus with all her classes. Her passions for learning and creativity are reflected in her children and grandchildren whom she always encouraged to pursue their own dreams. She was a proud daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. Her love and laughter will be remembered by many. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Newman; her son Anthony Curtis; her daughter, Alice Dyes (Leon); her son, Michael Newman (Cindy); her grandson, Benjamin Seth Blanton; her parents, M.S. and Mable Kilgore; her brother, James Kilgore; her sister, Marguarite Hannah (Johnny); and her second husband, Chuck Kalill. She is survived by her sons Ernie Newman (Melody) of Whitesburg, Mark Newman (Lauren) of Senoia, and Chris Newman (Wendy) of Newnan; her daughter, Kara Blanton (Daniel) of Bremen; and her grandchildren DeeDee Buttram (Mark) of Ragland, AL, Eric Newman (Lindy) of Carrolton, Beth Dorman (Mike) of Newnan, Rebecca Selleck (Matthew) of Sharpsburg, Clifford Dyes II of Grantville, Justin Newman of Nashville, TN, Lauren Shattuck (Josh) of Newnan, Joshua Newman (Alyssa) of Wedowee, Al, Marcus Newman (fiancé Crystal Jankowski) of Senoia, Ian Newman (Cassie) of Newnan, Jonah Newman (Alex) of Newnan, Michael Newman Jr., Gabbrielle Bomar (Andy) of Newnan, Katelyn Morgan (Chase) of Bremen, Colin Blanton of Bremen, and Brian Blanton of Bremen. She is also survived by many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and two great great grandchildren. The funeral service celebrating Ann's life is Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home, 38 Jackson Street, in Newnan. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until service time on Thursday. Burial will follow the service at Oak Hill Cemetery in Newnan.
