Ellis Anthony Mansour II, 87, a lifelong resident of Newnan, Georgia, peacefully passed away on Saturday, September 13th, 2025, surrounded by his beloved wife, Melinda and their three daughters. Born on July 4th, 1938, to the late Michael Vincent Mansour and Mayme Bohorfoush Mansour, Ellis grew up in Newnan City Schools graduating from Newnan High School in 1956. He attended The University of Notre Dame before enrolling at The University of Georgia, where he was a proud member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. His love of both schools made him a lifelong Georgia Bulldog and Fighting Irish fan. He graduated from Georgia's Terry College of Business in 1960. Following graduation, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. A gifted athlete, Ellis excelled in both football and baseball at Newnan High School and went on to briefly play semi-professional baseball after graduation. Later, he found great joy on the golf course. As a proud member of The Legends, he cherished the friendships and camaraderie with this group of men playing countless rounds of golf at Newnan Country Club and courses throughout the Southeast. At the young age of 8, Ellis began his retail career working alongside his father, grandfather and uncles at Ellis Mansour Department store on Newnan's West Court Square. In 1966, with his brother, Charlie, the two continued the family's tradition, opening and operating Brothers Ltd. on East Court square until 2011, marking the store's 45th anniversary as well as 100 years of Mansour-owned businesses in Newnan. Deeply invested in his community, Ellis was a past member of Newnan-Coweta Jaycees and Newnan Rotary Club. He served as a Director of Coweta County Red Cross, The United Fund Drive and Newnan Chamber of Commerce. As a business leader, he served as President of Menswear Retailers of Georgia. Ellis also served on the local Board of Directors of Newnan Savings and First Citizens Banks which later became BB&T, now Truist. He was a lifelong member of St. George Catholic Church where he served as a member of the Parish Council. Ellis was preceded in death by his siblings and brothers-in-law, June Ellen Mansour Thomas (Fayes), Rochelle Mansour Norred (Hershall), and John Charles Mansour (Michelle). He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Melinda Martin Mansour, his children Andrea Mansour (Tom Baggett) of Atlanta, Mary Ellen Mansour Coggin (Ken) of Dallas, TX, Laura Mansour (Sidney Little) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; his grandchildren, Banks Mansour Coggin, Ellis Edwin Coggin, Henry Archer Coggin, Madelyn Alexander Baggett and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family extends deepest gratitude to Gentiva Hospice, Andrea McCrary and Ellis's devoted caregivers Natalie Benton, Genevera Gamble, Tonya Brown, and Angela Williams. Their kindness, compassion and humor brought comfort to us all in his final days. A Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at St. George Catholic Church by Father Stephen Lyness and Father Henry Atem, on Wednesday, September 24th, at 10:30 a.m., with interment to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in downtown Newnan. A Rosary will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23rd, at McKoon Funeral Home, followed by a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to St. George Catholic Church, 771 Roscoe Road, Newnan, Ga. 30263, or Coweta Samaritan Clinic, 137 Jackson Street, Newnan, Ga. 30263 Condolences can be expressed online at www.mckoon.com McKoon Funeral Home and Crematory (770) 253-4580

Ellis was a wonderful man that I have known for many years. He and Charlie had the epitome in shops and I would never think of going anywhere else to buy any clothes. After I left Newnan to Athens and to Augusta ,I would always make a point to call Ellis and have him send me what I needed. He and Charlie will be missed and Melinda has our greatest sympathy.
