Ann Dowe (Behringer) Papenhagen, was born on November 29, 1937, and passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jim and Lucy Behringer and sister Mary Rickenberg, all of Defiance. Ann is survived by her son Andy (Eli) Papenhagen, daughter, Betsy (Royce) Weaver, sister Becky DeGrasse, three grandchildren and nieces and nephews and one great grandson. Ann spent most of her life in Ohio, attending Defiance High School and Bowling Green State University. She was a lifelong member of Delta Gamma sorority and a member of Grace Episcopal Church. While her children were young, the family resided in Virginia. She maintained friendships there for years. She enjoyed creating beautiful spaces, design, antiques and along with her mother Lucy, owned a needlepoint and design store for a time. She adored Frank Lloyd Wright architecture and loved touring the country to see his work. She also loved spending time with her children and grands and entertaining the family during holidays. She cared deeply for her family members, cousins and friends who live both near and far. Books, crosswords and creating gardens were on her daily favorites list.

Ann was the best Mom, always happy to lend an ear or add a quick-witted comment and enjoyed a great laugh with friends and family. She was a quiet and calm presence throughout her beautiful life. Thank you to all who loved and cherished our Mom.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, Ann's family requests that you contribute to a charity of your choice.
